Syracuse UniversityOffice of Government and Community Relations

Welcome to the Office of Government and Community Relations.  Our mission is to connect the University's initiatives and priorities with government and community resources.  We also provide counsel and guidance on policies, legislation and issues impacting the University.

Government Relations

We advance the University's interests at all levels of federal, state and local government. We are the designated point of contact for government officials, and are responsible for coordinating an effective government relations program that ensures compliance with federal, state and local lobbying laws.

Community Relations

We are both a local resource for and liaison with neighborhood, community, and business organizations on matters pertaining to campus-community relationships. Our office enjoys mutually beneficial relationships locally as an engaged civic, cultural, and business partner.

  • Engaging in Partisan Political Activity

Because the University is a registered lobbying organization, all contact with government officials for any University business must follow Federal, State and University policies and regulations.  All faculty and staff are required to contact our office at or call us at 315-443-3919 before engaging in partisan political activity.
