University Hill Corporation
The University Hill Corporation is a private, not-for-profit organization that encourages the growth and development of the University Hill area in Syracuse. It was created in 1963 and all of the major medical and education institutions in the University Hill area are members [Syracuse University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Crouse Hospital, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Hutching Psychiatric Center (New York State Department of Mental Health), and Syracuse Housing Authority], as well as five churches, two business groups, property owners and residents from the area.
The University Hill Corporation is involved in activities that are aimed at improving the quality of life in the University Hill community. Some of them include institutional planning and development; housing; transportation and parking; commercial revitalization; and long-term planning. In addition, the organization assists its members and the City of Syracuse in planning and implementing new development on a continuing basis.
